The title of senior school leader encompasses a broad spectrum of roles, including: deputy headteachers, assistant headteachers, advanced skills teachers (ASTs), special educational needs co-ordinators (SENCOs) and curriculum or pastoral leaders who are members of the senior leadership team (SLT) and have whole-school responsibilities.
