SEN Base – Teacher

We are excited to be recruiting a SEN Base teacher to a newly-formed SEN base in a Dorset Primary School.

Pupils will be in Key Stage 1. The school is looking for a teacher with a strong understanding of child development, knowledge and experience of the EYFS curriculum. SEN training and knowledge would be an advantage in this role.

  • Plan and deliver differentiated lessons tailored to individual needs.
  • Support pupils with SEND, including autism, speech and language needs, cognition and learning difficulties, or social, emotional and mental health needs.
  • Review Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and individual learning targets.
  • Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, parents, and external agencies.
  • Monitor progress and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.
  • Promote inclusion and support pupils’ transition between the SEN base and mainstream classes where appropriate.
  • Manage behaviour positively and create a safe, supportive learning environment.

Keeping Children Safe in Education

This check will be part of a safeguarding check, and the search will purely be based on whether an individual is suitable to work with children. As care must be taken to avoid unconscious bias and any risk of discrimination, a person who will not on the appointment panel will conduct the searches and will only share information if and when findings are relevant and of concern.
